Aims and Objectives

Welcome to the Leeds Neuroanatomy Courses website. The aims and objectives of this site are to provide information on courses that are available and jointly run by the Leeds Neurosurgical unit and School of Biomedical sciences.

Our next course to be run is the NEUROANATOMY OF OPERATIVE APPROACHES (Part II) and will be on the 7th and 8th January 2010 . A two day cadaveric dissection couse aimed at Senior Neurosurgical Trainees. This course is designed to give the trainees the opportunity to understand the anatomy of commonly used cranial operative approaches (one cadaver per two delegates) under the supervision of Consultant Neurosurgeons.

Later in the year NEUROANATOMY OF OPERATIVE APPROACHES (Part I) will be run, dates yet to confirm. This course is designed to give trainees the opportunity to understand the anatomy of the cranial operative approaches ( one cadaver per two delegates) under the supervision of Consultant Neurosurgeons.

Leeds Neuroanatomy Courses

These courses have been developed in partnership with the School of Biomedical Science , Leeds University and the Leeds Neurosurgical Unit. The aim being to increase the clinically relevant Neuro-anatomical knowledge of Neurosurgical trainees. The courses are designed to allow maximum hands-on experience in the Anatomy Skills Laboratory supervised by Neurosurgeons.

Two courses are run through the year:

Part I: aimed at the Junior Neurosurgical Trainee within the first three years of their training. The focus is on the anatomy of commoner Neurosurgical approaches

Part II: aimed at the Senior Neurosurgical trainee towards the later part of their training. The focus being the anatomy of more complex approaches.
